How much do you charge? Our rates are subject to change, so please email to confirm. In the case of all-day festivals or similar events, prices can be negotiated. Be aware, we do not book balloons-only events; contact one of our balloon twisters to book them exclusively (Laura at email@example.com or Bridget at firstname.lastname@example.org). Our prices are as follows: 1 hour of face painting..........$100 2+ hours of face painting.......$90 per hour Face painting & balloons.......$180 per hour Please note: face painting and balloon twisting are always done by two separate people.
How long should I book? We estimate we can cover up to 15 kids in one hour (this applies to both face painting and balloons). Please book according to your anticipated number of guests.
Why hire a professional? It is an important investment if you want quality entertainment at your party. We can paint much faster than any volunteer painter, and have spent hours perfecting our techniques. We also use FDA-compliant cosmetic paints and glitter, helping you avoid stains in your home, allergic reactions, or stiff paint that is not meant to be applied to skin. We have been doing this since November 2010 and we are passionate about it.
What kind of paint do you use?/What is your setup? We use primarily Diamond FX brand professional cosmetic face paints, along with Wolfe, Snazaroo, and Tag. They are water-based, dry quickly, and are easy to remove with water and mild soap (or makeup remover/cold cream in cases of stubborn colors). Our setup is typically a small table and one or two chairs. It does not take up a large amount of space. We also provide a list or book of examples for guests to choose from--special requests always encouraged!
How far will you travel? We will travel anywhere in Orange County. Some travel fees or booking minimums apply depending on where you are located. Click here to view a map of where our travel fees apply! If the easiest route to your event includes toll roads, those tolls will be added to your total separate from applicable travel fees.
How do I hire you? When you email us (alex.facepainter @ gmail.com), we will ask details about your party such as how many guests are expected in order to help you book the ideal amount of hours. We estimate that we can cover 12-15 people per hour (this applies to either face painting or balloons). When you are ready to book, we will email you a form to fill out featuring the other details of the party, such as the location, your contact information, and any theme considerations. We will also send a copy of our contract, which you can read over and we consider signed after you have sent us the information or deposit money.
Do you require a deposit? Yes, for events booked more than 1 week in advance, we require a deposit. After you fill out your booking form, we will email you an invoice using PayPal. We love PayPal because it is the most secure way to handle money online. You can use your credit card without needing to make an account, or if you have an existing PayPal account, directly transfer from it. In the event of a cancellation, we will refund your deposit IF you notify us within one (1) week. If you notify us in less than one week, your deposit will not be refunded.
How do I pay? Payment in full is required either at the beginning or end of our time at your event. We have recently changed our policy and are now accepting only cash. Payment in full amount agreed upon is ALSO required in the event that you cut our time short at your event (for example, if you book us for 3 hours and decide we are done after 1 hour, we will still require 3 hours’ payment).
Should I tip? We know it’s an awkward question to ask! Since there is no specific etiquette for event services like ours, we are never offended if we don’t get a tip. It’s a way to let us know we did well at your party, and if you wish, go ahead! We appreciate it every time.
Is face painting appropriate for all ages? Yes! As you can see in our gallery, our designs range from simple and child-themed to intricate and artistic. That’s why face painting is a great idea for any kind of party, whether there are children present or not. We do however strongly encourage that children under 3 years old get painted on their hand/arm rather than their face, as they tend to strenuously resist it if they can’t see what is being painted. We reserve the right to not paint on any child that resists and will stop immediately if the child cries. Face painting should be fun for everyone!
Would you consider donating your services to a charitable event? We will consider requests such as these, provided we are permitted to have a tip jar out, and depending on what our schedule is looking like at the time. Feel free to inquire about these and we can try to work with you.
We are a large corporation with a multiple-day event and require an invoice from you, as well as a W-9 form. Will you accommodate us? Absolutely! If you know you will be needing extra documentation to complete your transaction with us, please send ALL forms at least a week beforehand (via email or snail mail) so we may process everything accordingly before your event. Our contract states that we must be paid at the time service is given; this applies to ALL events, big and small, corporate and private. If you are hiring us for multiple days, we ask that you pay us for the entire event up front before we start working. It can be challenging to get a hold of our contact person at the end of each day, and it gives everyone peace of mind to have it out of the way. This way we can arrive and leave on schedule and per our agreement without needing to cause a stir.
